Good morning Year 2!
How are you all? I hope you are safe and well. I have added a few ideas to keep you busy but remember to keep having fun too. I am missing you all!
Today KS1 welcomed grown ups in as part of our Inspire Day. Our task was to design and make a suitable outfit for the Yetti in 'Betty and the Yetti'.
We had all the resources ready and our grown ups and children got to work. Some fabulous outfits were made!
Our 'Parent Feedback Forms' stated:
"Would love to do more of these activities."
"This was enjoyable for both of us."
"Thank you for having us! P.S-Your job is tough!! Difficult to negotiate with little people not easy!! Thank you for all that you do!"
Happy New Year!
I hope everyone has had a fun-filled Christmas break. We are ready to jump straight back into learning in Year 2!
This half term our new exploration is:
'What makes the world alive?'
We carried out a science experiment to see which material is waterproof! We discussed how we could make this a fair test and we all made a prediction.
Class of the Week!
We had a very exciting visit from Dearne FM. For that week we were class of the week on the radio. He interviewed us and asked us all about Life at Summerfields Primary Academy.
Did you hear us on the radio?
We love using the resources to help us with our learning.
We had lots of fun celebrating Diwali!
We made Rangoli patterns, chapatis and candle holders made out of clay.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
I hope you've all had a wonderful time in the snow so far, I know I have!
While you are unable to get into school I would like you to try and do one (or more!) or the following activities.
1. Draw a picture and write some sentences describing what you have been doing in the snow. See if you can include all the sentence types (statements, exclamations, questions and commands).
2. Try and make some shapes (2D and 3D) in the snow. Take some photos or draw some pictures of what you have made. How many shapes can you make?
3. Build a snowman or a sculpture in the snow. Take some pictures to bring in to show your friends. You could even write some instructions on how you built it to share with the class!
4. If it's been too cold for you to play outside have a go at this activity! Imagine you meet someone who has never seen or felt snow before - how would you describe it to them? Write some sentences, don't forget to include all your senses.
Enjoy the rest of the snow and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
Welcome to Year 2!
