A MESSAGE FROM A PARENT...

What if?❤️❤️❤️

If they cancel the rest of the school year, students would miss 2.5 months of education. Many people are concerned about students falling behind because of this. Yes, they may fall behind when it comes to classroom education...
But what if...❤️❤️❤️

What if instead of falling “behind", this group of kids are ADVANCED because of this? Hear me out...❤️❤️❤️

What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing. ❤️❤️❤️

What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own backyard and sitting near a window in the quiet. ❤️❤️❤️

What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower? ❤️❤️❤️

What if this generation are the ones to learn to cook, organize their space, do their laundry, and keep a well run home? ❤️❤️❤️

What if they learn to stretch a pound and to live with less? ❤️❤️❤️

What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home?❤️❤️❤️

What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday?❤️❤️❤️

What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, cashiers, custodians, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place? ❤️❤️❤️

What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life to truly learn what really matters in this life?❤️❤️

What if they are AHEAD? ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Tour de Yorkshire

This week we were visited by the good people from the office of Tour de Yorkshire. We are super excited that the race will be running right past our school gate!!!! So…. a nice gentleman came in to tell us all about the different races and what it would mean for our school. We even got to look at the trophies that the winner get their names engraved onto (Miss Wroe and Mrs Tabbner even got to hold them and they were very heavy. They had to wear special gloves to protect the trophy).

Our school will be taking part in lots of exciting events running up to and on the day of the race. Stay tuned throughout the year to hear lots more information!

Pupils of the week WB 1st October

What an afternoon having an up and coming GB athelete in school putting on a fitness circuit for all our children

Last week  (Tuesday 13th March 2018) we were lucky enough to take part in the Royston Ward Alliance awards at the town hall. I was incredibly proud of all the children who attended. Here are our photographs from that night!

Sports Elevation Olympic Day at the EIS - Today our year 5's had to take the role of year 6 too at the English Institute of Sport becasue our year 6's were off on their residential. They did an amazing job whilst there. It was a pleasure to represent our school with these individuals who gave their all in the events that they were competing in. I would like to say that the 21 schools that were competing were fantastic throughout the day and they have some super talent that may have a future in atheletics.

Another fantastic celebrations assembly with lots of awards to give out

World Book Day - Today we finally celebrated world book day after the snow last week put a stop to it and I thought that it was happening all again when the white stuff had returned this morning too. Luckily, the snow couldn't stop us this time and we finally got to see the wonderful characters that the children and staff had come in. A huge thank you for your efforts to get the children in to school and all looking fantastic. The children have been doing various work today linked to a book of the teachers choice so ask them about their day

More winners

VISION EVENING - Thank you to all that came last night and for all your fantastic support, comments and ideas. It was brilliant to be able to get to know some of you more and have you help shape Summerfields together.

Smile day

Today has been our second Smile day and it has been lovely to see the children enjoying lots of different activities. We have had board games, film club, doodle drawing, Lego, dragon art, iPad fun, pop art, multi sports and yoga!

Smile Day - Well what a day today was here at Summerfields. The children have worked extremely hard towards their day of activities and the fun they had was fantastic to see. There was lots of things going off from; slime making to hide and seek and even building with marshmallow and spaghetti. The day was a huge success and the children at Summerfields loved every minute. Check out some photos of the day, but i'm sure class pages will have lots on too.
